About the Journal
The International Journal of Research in English Education (IJREE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access, quarterly journal in English dedicated to the field of English language teaching (ELT). It is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of original articles, review articles, etc., considering the research ethics and academic rules and regulations.
The International Journal of Research in English Education (IJREE) publishes research on the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs for school-aged and adult learners for whom English is a second or additional language, including those learning academic content through the medium of English. IJREE has a dual focus on the development of learners’ language abilities and broader societal and policy-related issues, including implications for teacher professional development and policy support at both institutional and systemic levels. IJREE aims to address current issues in English language teaching (ELT) in educational institutions from a contextualized perspective, examining theories, practices, and policies with careful attention to their historical foundations and local (re)contextualizations. By exploring diverse educational settings and adopting a comparative approach, IJREE seeks to transcend traditional geographical boundaries, making it relevant not only to English-speaking countries but also to regions where English is primarily an additional—yet crucial—language for learning other academic content. Furthermore, IJREE crosses disciplinary and methodological boundaries by integrating sociocultural and critical approaches with second language acquisition perspectives, drawing on both applied linguistics and educational research. By combining basic and applied research with policy-oriented and problem-driven research, the journal contributes to the development of a more comprehensive, innovative, and contextually grounded understanding of English language education on a global scale.
Authors are encouraged to submit original research and review manuscripts that are not under consideration for publication elsewhere to the journal for review. All manuscripts undergo peer review to determine their originality, validity, significance, and scientific value. Submitted manuscripts are peer reviewed by members of the Editorial Board or other experts chosen by the Editor. The Editor-in-Chief of the journal is responsible for final editing, decisions regarding acceptance, revisions, and rejection. Submission of a manuscript to the journal is taken as evidence that no portion of the text, tables, or figures has been copyrighted, published, or submitted for publication elsewhere, unless information regarding previous publication is cited and permission obtained. A copy of any such permission obtained must accompany the manuscript.
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The submitted manuscripts will be published after a thorough review and the editorial board's approval. Researchers are highly encouraged to visit the website, register, submit, and prepare their manuscripts according to the Instructions to the Authors. All communication with authors and reviewers will take place through the journal’s website.

Declaration of generative AI in scientific writing |
Where authors use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, they should only employ these technologies to improve readability and language. The application of AI technology must be accompanied by human oversight and control. AI and AI-assisted technologies should not be listed as authors or co-authors, nor should they be cited as an author. Authorship implies tasks and responsibilities that are uniquely attributed to and performed by humans. Authors should disclose their use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by following the instructions provided. A statement acknowledging this use will appear in the published article. It is essential to recognize that authors remain ultimately responsible and accountable for the content of their articles. Disclosure instructions: Authors should disclose in their manuscript the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by adding a statement at the end of their manuscript in the core manuscript file, before the References list. The statement should be placed in a new section entitled ‘Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process’. Statement: During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication. This declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools for checking grammar, spelling, references, etc. If there is nothing to disclose, there is no need to add a statement. |
